Happy May!
I originally had this as part of the recipe set called Tapas!. But I think it might have been lost in there, and something this phenomenal deserves its own post. This is a gooey delicious treat that's worthy of a birthday or just as special occasion. And as usual with all our recipes here, it's very simple to follow. So shall we?
Ingredients
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
2 eggs
2 egg yolks
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
2 eggs
2 egg yolks
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup all purpose flour
6 lindt balls
ice cream (optional but highly recommended)
caramel sauce (optional)
Step 1:
Melt the chocolate chips in a double boiler (a bowl which sits on top
of a small amount of water in another slightly larger pot)
The double boiler makes sure you do not burn the chocolate by cooking it on direct heat |
Step 2: Add the butter, stirring occasionally until smooth. Remove from heat.
Step 3: In a large bowl whisk the eggs, egg
yolks, sugar, and vanilla on high speed for about 5 minutes, or until
thick and light.
Step 4: Add the flour to the egg mixture
Step 5: Fold the melted chocolate mixture into the flour and
egg mixture just until combined.
Step 6: Spoon the cake batter into the buttered
ramekins. Place a chocolate ball in the middle of each ramekin.
Step 7: Bake for about 15 minutes, or until the cake is firm to the touch. Do not use the toothpick method here, because remember, this is a molten cake and you want the insides to be runny.
Step 8: Remove from the oven and let sit for about 2 minutes. Run a small, sharp
knife around the inside of each ramekin, place an upside-down plate on
top, invert, and remove the ramekin.
Step 9: Top with ice cream. You can even make it a tiny bit more decadent and add some whipped cream and caramel sauce.
Be warned, this is one of the most delicious treats, you will have made. ENJOY!!! |
