Marshmallow Treats

Happy Tax Day! If you're like me, doing anything as tedious as taxes, leaves me wanting to do absolutely nothing. So today I bring you the simplest recipe of all time. But trust you me, simple does not mean it does not taste good. It is still super delicious.

Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter
4 cups marshmallows
5 cups rice cereal (like Rice Krispies)

Melt the butter in a large saucepan on low heat
butter
Melted butter
When butter has melted, add in marshmallows

And stir

Keep stirring

It will become non-lumpy and look like really thick milk
Or what most people call cream

 Add in the rice cereal

Don't be shy, give it a good stir
When everything has been combined, using a spatula press the mixture into a casserole pan.

Let it sit for 15-20 minutes.  When it has cooled, cut it into squares.

And there you go. As promised, a simple recipe that will ease the burden of the horrid tax season
Enjoy! (ps - I didn't cut it perfect squares. I blame it on the IRS)

  1. Excuse me while I drool. Haven't made this yet- but definitely will soon! Any suggestions on how to incorporate chocolate in this? Maybe a chocolate drizzle? Still drooling.

  2. Wellll here is a suggestion:
    1) melt a small bag (6oz or so) of sweet or semi-sweet chocolate chips (best probably to do this in a pyrex measuring cup in the microwave)
    2) after you have pressed the still warm rice cereal mixture into the pan - drizzle the chocolate onto it in pretty zig zags.
    3) let me know how it turns out ;-)
