Kale Chips

I recently got a request from a friend of mine on this "recipe" - here you go Milann :)

When I go to the grocery store and I see the tiny 3 oz bags of Kale chips for like 6 dollars a piece, I feel a huge sense of despair and disbelief that 1) people pay that much money for something that in no way should cost so much and  2)  I didn't think of making and selling this myself

Buying enough fresh kale to fill like 25 of those bags, should cost you less than buying one of those bags of chips. And honestly, it takes second to prepare and minutes to cook. So PLEASE  stop the insanity and make them yourself.

I typically just do an olive oil and salt combo, but you can do any sort of flavor you'd like - garlic, cayenne, bbq, whatever. Experiment with your favorite flavor to get the chips you want.  Kale is so good for you, this is a wonderful way to get a ton of nutrients in and also refrain from eating potato chips and other non-healthy snacks.

And as a note - you can do this with many "greens" that we probably just throw away as non-usable. Just to name a few:  Beet Greens,  Bok Choy,  Swiss Chard, Collard Greens, Mustard Greens and probably more!

Ingredients:
1 bunch/head of kale
2 tsp olive oil
Sea Salt

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 275 degrees F.

Step 2: Remove the ribs from the kale and cut  or tear into 1 1/2-inch pieces.
The ribs are too tough and chewy to eat. So don't try to cook the chips without removing it.
I use scissors and just snip the leaves off.
Step 3: Wash and dry well
I use a salad spinner to make sure to get the leaves as dry as possible
The drier they are, the easier it is to get them crispy instead of steamy/soggy
Step 4: Lay kale pieces on a baking sheet and sprinkle with olive oil and salt.

Step 5: Bake until crisp, turning the leaves halfway through, about 15 minutes.
This is my completely overused toaster oven :)
Step 6:  ENJOY the heck out of these cheap delicious treats!!!!
